Dr. Gopakumar R, MBBS, MD (Anesthesiology), is a highly experienced Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Specialist with over two decades of expertise in the medical field. He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Calicut, and obtained his MD in Anesthesiology from the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. His comprehensive training included postings in surgical super-specialties, trauma, emergency medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiac anesthesia, and neuroanesthesia across several esteemed institutions.
Dr. Gopakumar has also enhanced his professional qualifications with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training from Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences and Pain and Palliative Care training at the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. His deep commitment to medical education is reflected in his contributions as a teacher and thesis co-guide for postgraduate students, as well as his involvement in training house surgeons and MBBS students.
He has a strong clinical background in both anesthesiology and critical care, having served as a Specialist in Pain and Palliative Medicine at Pallium India Trust, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Gopakumar has also held key positions as Registrar and Senior Resident in Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Sri Uthradom Tirunal (SUT) Hospital and SUT Academy of Medical Sciences, respectively. He further advanced his career as Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor in Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Azeezia Medical College, Kollam. Before joining Smita Hospital, he worked as a Consultant Anesthesiologist at Avitis Institute of Medical Sciences, Palakkad, and Meditrina Hospital, Kollam.
