Private single rooms
Smita Memorial Hospital follows a privacy-first model: there are no general wards, only single rooms. This gives every patient privacy and a quieter environment for recovery.
What to pack
- ID, SH Card and insurance documents
- All current medicines in original packaging

Attendants
To minimise the risk of infection, only one attendant at a time is allowed with each patient. Attendants must wear the attendant pass while inside the hospital.
Visiting hours
- Wards: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Intensive Care Units: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM and 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM
- Limited to two visitors per patient at a time
- Children under 12 are not allowed except in special circumstances approved by staff
- All visitors must show valid photo ID and undergo health screening
- Visitors with fever, cough or breathlessness are not permitted

- Wash or sanitise hands before and after visiting
- Follow infection control instructions such as masks
- Respect the privacy of other patients
- Keep noise low and encourage the patient to rest
- Ask permission before taking photos or videos
- Respect dietary restrictions for the patient
Preventing infections during a hospital stay
- Clean hands before and after touching the patient
- Ask staff whether they have cleaned their hands — it is your right
- Keep the room tidy and limit items brought in
- Do not sit on the patient's bed
- Stay away if you have a cough, cold or fever
- Follow any mask or gown instructions
Planning for discharge
- Ask early what needs to happen before discharge
- Make sure you understand every medicine — the dose, timing and duration
- Collect the discharge summary and all reports
- Know the warning signs to watch for at home
- Confirm the follow-up appointment
- Arrange home care or equipment if needed
SMHRC @ Home can provide nursing, physiotherapy, doctor visits, lab collection, medicine delivery and medical equipment after discharge.
Food and nutrition
Patients may have special dietary needs during their stay. Smita Memorial Hospital's dietetics department advises the hospital's food and beverages wing to ensure meals meet high quality standards, and the hospital holds Eat Right Campus certification. Please check with nursing staff before bringing food from outside, especially for patients on restricted diets.
